Disciplines for Library
Users
- Show student I.D card at the libraries’ entrances (checkpoint)
- Silence shall be strictly observed in the library.
- Smoking and chewing gums in the library is strictly prohibited.
- Reserving chairs and tables is not allowed.
- Current issues cannot be checked out until the technical processing
is completed.
- Marking with pen or pencil on the books of the Library is
strictly forbidden.
- Reference books cannot be checked out from the Library
- Conversation and group discussion is not allowed in the library.
- Checking out materials by others ID cards or borrowing pocket
is forbidden.
- Detaching and disfiguring parts of books is strictly prohibited
- Violation to these rules will result in serious disciplinary
measures.
Borrowing Conditions
- Members of the academic staff can hold six borrowing pockets
at a time, students (three semester and above) and administrative
staff one borrowing pocket.
- Students and members of administrative staff can borrow books
for two weeks, one week or for overnight. They can renew them
for further use, if the book is not over due and not reserved
by another person.
- When checking out a reserve book for one hour and thirty minutes,
you should fill out the reserve book card completely.
- The book card and your ID card will be kept together at the
circulation desk until you return the material.
- All reserve books on loan are due in 10 minute before the
library closes
- All reserve books given for overnight use should be returned
between 8:00a.m-9:00a.m of the next day.
Overdue & Lost Books fines
- Long loan materials (Two weeks or less) If the book is overdue
a fine of 1:00 Birr per day. Then the fines will 2:00 Birr for
two-day… and so on. Until payment is made the user can’t
receive his/her I.D. or Book Pocket.
- Readers who delay short loan books for 20 minutes and above
from the time given a fine of 0.50 cents will be charged. Then
the fines will 1:00 Birr for 40 minutes and so on. Until payment
is made the user can’t receive his/her I.D.
- A book that is heavily damaged and cannot reasonably be expected
to give its usual service is deemed as a lost book.
- Library users will be charged twice the estimated price plus
50.00 Birr for lost or heavily damaged books. But they can replace
them with books of the same content.
- As soon as you know you have lost a book, you should report
to the circulation desk and fill out a “Lost Book”
form.
- When you pay for a lost book, make sure you receive an official
college receipt.
- Your book pocket or Student ID will not be returned unless
a Lost or damaged Book charge is paid.
- A user will be charged 5.00 Birr for lost borrowing pocket
and will be issued another pocket after one semester.
- Without the borrowing pockets and Student ID, you will not
be able to get clearance from the Library.
- User who lost his/her ID or borrowing pocket has a responsibility
for book checked out by that ID and pocket.
