The department of statistics of Unity University college is aimed to award the degree of Bachelor of Science majoring in statistics and minor from any one of the following: economics, computer science or Mathematics.

The main objective of the department is to equip students with the basic knowledge of statistics mainly with emphasis on its application in the day to day activities of man kind such as Economics, agriculture, business etc

The role of statistics in Economics will be studied as Economical statistics. The help of statistical analysis will estimate economic time series data. The help of statistical regression analysis can prophesy for casting future trends. The degree of association between different variables will be measured by the help of correlation coefficients, which in turn indicates the degree of dependency of one variable up on the other. The help of regression analysis can also detect causes and effects of economic phenomenon.

In statistical data analysis, especially in multivariate analysis, computers play great role. Computations and analysis using computer software and programming languages are indispensable.
