In the year 2002, Unity University College conducted a survey
and assessed the requirements of the society and felt appropriate
to channel felt-needs for technical, business and management courses
through distance teaching. School of Distance and Continuing Education
was therefore founded in response to the needs of the people who
are not able to continue their education at the tertiary level.
The head quarter of School of Distance and Continuing Education
(SDCE) is situated in Addis Ababa in the main office administration
building of Unity University College, second floor. SDCE has seven
Regional Centers and twenty-two Study Centers all over the country.
Today SDCE of Unity University College offers both degree (12
+ 3) and diploma (10 + 3) courses to its students scattered over
the surface area of the country. We have also few students in
Jeddah who are working for their degrees.
The School admits students of any nation or nationality, gender,
religion, and age without any discrimination, and makes available
to them all rights, privileges, programs and activities, provided
by the University College.
The University College reserves the right to modify location
and policy, adjust requirements and standards as described in
student Hand Book.
The SDCE works in collaboration with the different faculties of
the regular program which is composed of full time professors,
lecturers and assistant lecturers who are renounced for their
long term services and area of experience. Young lecturers are
also the potential assets in supporting this distance program,
both as tutors and face to face teachers.
