Piassa Campus General Background from Coordinator's Office



Unity University College is the 1st private higher educational Institution in Ethiopia , which up graded itself from Language and Law School to college level in 1998. At the moment it embraces seven campuses (Six in Addis and one in Nazareth ). Out of the six campuses in Addis Ababa , One is the piazza Campus. This campus is situated at the heart of Addis Abeba, which is also the birth place of this institution thirteen years back on November 7, 1991. Above all, this campus is noted for its being a center of registration for new students in Addis Ababa which has three story building with more than 60 rooms out of which 10 of them are lecture rooms, two lab computer rooms one big library with its first stair big reading room. The remaining other classes are academic staff rooms, administration rooms, store and registration rooms. Besides, the campus provides cafeteria service with its full facilities and fair price to the whole community.

In the campus presently (2004 - 2005) there are 1298 students pursuing their higher education out of which 869 are in the extension program, while 429 are in the regular day program. These students are assigned to various fields according to their interest in the faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, in the faculty of Law and International Studies as their home base in our campus and from other faculties; that is, from Faculty of Business and Economics in Accounting, in Economics and in Management.

These 1298 students are not fully following their courses in the campus. Those who are fully their home base are 879 students, but the remaining 419 students come to this campus for one or more courses; that is, form Africa Andent, Ras Abebe or even form Gerji Campus due to shortage of rooms or for computer training classes
